If you ask me, the most important function of photography has is to tell a story. And to tell a story well you need to discover a good starting point to the story and then transfer the emotion of that moment effortlessly. Lure the viewer into the situation as she/he was there to take the photo with you. This mindset is the basis for the following tasks.

1. Capture the moment

Take a photo that captures a special moment in life. It can be something meaningful or something very ordinary -  there is magic waiting to be captured everywhere around us.

2. Seize the feeling

Take a photo that is supercharged with feelings. The most elaborate photo is the one that transfers feelings and creates emotions on both sides of the photograph.

3. Tell the story

Take a photo that tells a story. Fanciest photos tell the story from way beyond the capture time and can even predict what is going to happen. Tell the story as it is or make the viewer build it around the photograph.

Photos can be taken in both digital and analogue form. Color correction is acceptable but no heavy retouching or photo manipulation with computer - use classical ways of photography to build the image.

"Great approach to the assignment. Each photo has their artistic way to fulfil the tasks. Still I wish the postproduction would have been a bit better."

William Karlgren (Gå vidare)

1. Capture the moment
2. Seize the feeling
3. Tell the story

"Powerful images. Great use of ordinary moments turned into something more meaningful. Technically also quite flawless."

Simon Larsson (Gå vidare)

1. Capture the moment
2. Seize the feeling
3. Tell the story

"Brilliant 2nd photo, the use of light and the magic of the moment is really outstanding. The other two are maybe a bit too ordinary, there is not much wow factor. "

Jennifer Sandström (Utslagen)

1. Capture the moment
2. Seize the feeling
3. Tell the story

"First one is really great, takes you straight to the moment and technically really pleasing. 2nd one would be so much better without the background people, now it just feels a bit like a vacation photo from the home album. I can see the story in the 3rd photo but the execution leaves the image a bit unfinished."

Cletus Nelson Nwadike (Gå vidare)

1. Capture the moment
2. Seize the feeling
3. Tell the story

"Excellent editorial like imagery. Powerful subjects and the photos themself just burst in emotion and vibes. Really strong outcome."

Anna Strömbäck (Gå vidare)

1. Capture the moment
2. Seize the feeling
3. Tell the story

"First photo is technically not the best, I think in black & white it would perform better. The moment is there but I kind of wish it would have something extra to it. The other two on the other hand are great examples of beautiful modern portrait photography."

Fabian Palomera (Gå vidare)

1. Capture the moment
2. Seize the feeling
3. Tell the story

"Technically not maybe the best first two photos but the more I watch 3rd photo the more I like it. It’s brilliant how you can just barely see the figure of the man. Sometimes it’s fun to leave the viewer things to discover."

Pavlina Arsova (Utslagen)

1. Capture the moment
2. Seize the feeling
3. Tell the story

"Fun moments captured well but I feel like I’m watching a cataloque for a dog spa (which I think this is). Also the technical quality in the first photo is oddly bad."

Isak Gudnason (Gå vidare)

1. Capture the moment
2. Seize the feeling
3. Tell the story

"Good effort but I would have tried to include just a little something more into the photos to make them more special. "

Lukas Lennse (Gå vidare)

1. Capture the moment
2. Seize the feeling
3. Tell the story

"3rd photo is great. It’s nice that the ground and the plane has been left a bit darker and to contrast it there’s the lovely sky, good composition also. I feel like that the 2nd photo should have been the moment photo and put the baby photo back to the home album."

Iida-Maria Purolainen (Gå vidare)

1. Capture the moment
2. Seize the feeling
3. Tell the story

"Nice everyday moments but maybe a bit too ordinary after all. Although the idea of child gazing into a staircase is good but there is still something missing, the photo itself is a bit bleak. Really great motion and vibe in the 3rd photo."

Evelina Lindahl (Gå vidare)

1. Capture the moment
2. Seize the feeling
3. Tell the story

"Brilliant 2nd photo, one of the best of the assignment. The other two can’t reach the same level though. There is a great moment going on in the third one but the photo itself isn’t quite the best possible representation of it, the flat light and weird composition have an effect on that."
